Meet the Teacher Monday - Have You Ever?

I am linking up again with Trina at The Ordinary to Extraordinary Classroom for her "Meet the Teacher Monday" linky party.

Meet The Teacher Monday: Have You Ever?

1. Have you ever been on TV?

No, I have never been on TV.  Maybe some day! :)

2. Have you ever been trapped in an elevator?

Yes! When I was in high school, I went on a trip with my church youth group.  We got on an elevator in a hotel to go up to our rooms.  The guys decided to pile up on the elevator with the girls.  Right when the elevator started going, they all jumped at the same time which cause the elevator to stop.  There we were stuck on a FULL elevator with some stinky boys.  The hotel was able to open the door and we could see people, but we weren't able to get off for awhile.  Let's just say it was not fun but a definite memory.

3. Have you ever made anyone cry?

I am a teacher.  Of course, I have made a student cry before.  I don't strive to make students cry, but sometimes it happens. :(

4. Have you ever walked into a window because it was just that clean?

No I don't think so, but I did watch a woman walk straight into a window before going into a truck stop.  I have to admit it was hilarious, and the woman left a face print on the window.

5. Have you ever fainted in public?

Sadly, yes.  I have a history of seizures from when I was a child.  Now, I don't have seizures, but I pass out easily due to lots of different things such as high pitches, altitude changes, etc.  I can tell when it is going to happen so I am able to warn someone.  I have fainted at Six Flags, in Germany at a castle, in Honduras in a school, and the list could go on and on.

6. Have you ever gone to a restaurant and ate, only to realize you didn't have any money?

No! I would be so embarrassed if this happened.

7. Have you ever gone to greet a family member or friend and then noticed it was someone else?

I am sure I have, but I can't think of a funny story to tell.

Now it's your turn to join in on the fun!

Meet the Teacher Monday - What If?

I am breaking a rule and posting twice in one day.  However, I wanted to get my Silly Student Sayings post written this weekend.  It just didn't happen, because I was enjoying spending time with my family.  Make sure you check it out, because there are some funny sayings. :)

I am linking up again with Trina at The Ordinary to Extraordinary Classroom for her "Meet the Teacher Monday" linky party.

Meet The Teacher Monday: WHAT IF?

1. If you could stop a bad habit that you have, what habit would you stop?
Overbooking myself!  I want to do everything, and I have a hard time saying "No".

2. If you woke up suddenly because your house was on fire (God forbid), what three things would you grab?
  • My daughter
  • My purse
  • My iPhone
I would want to grab a lot more though!

3. We live is a dystopian society, and the music police is in charge of all things music. If you were forced to listen to one song for the rest of your life, what song would it be? You can only pick one.
"Amazing Grace" - It gives me hope now and for the future.

4. If you saw someone with their dress tucked into their SPANX, would you tell them?
Yes! I would want someone to tell me so I would definitely tell someone else.  Of course, I would do it in a polite way.

5. If you were given a time machine and could go back in time to give your younger self a message, what would that message be?
I would go back and tell myself to enjoy life.  I feel like I rushed through my teenage years to grow up.  I have always been a workaholic, and now I wish I could have had more fun.  Instead, I was always worried about my future.

6. If your were able to have one supernatural power, what power would it be?
I would love to have the supernatural power to fly!  I could do so many more things if I could just get there.

7. If you could have 25 hours a day (while everyone else still has 24), what would you do with the extra hour?
I would probably work during that extra hour which I hope it would make me feel like I was ahead if that is even possible.

8. If you could live in one time period, what time period would you choose?
I think I would have liked to live in the 50s.  I would not like the racism that occurred, but I would like the music, clothes, etc.

9.  If you could live anywhere in the world (cost is not a factor), where would you live?
Hawaii - I went there on my honeymoon and loved it!

10. If you could have a grand party, and invite any 3 people in the world (dead or live, real or fictional), who would you invite?
This is hard, because I am not big on celebrities or anything.
  1. Mandisa (I have loved learning more about her lately.)
  2. Bruno Mars (He could provide the music.)
  3. Rachael Ray (She could help with the food.)
Now it's your turn!

Silly Student Sayings

We all know that kids say the craziest things.  Well, one of my assistants has challenged me to keep a record of everything silly my kids say in class.  We have heard some crazy things this year.  I have started recording these things in a journal with kids' names and such.  However, I also wanted to share with my readers on here.  I plan on updating on the weekends when one occurs. So check back to see what is said in a first grade room. :)

Teacher: "Why are you at your backpack?"
Student: "I thought I came to school with diapers in my backpack."
Teacher: "Why would you have diapers?  Do you need them?"
Student: "No, but my mom might with my baby brother."

I am glad my backpack area doesn't look like this!

Teacher: "Does anyone know why the police called the mother a cuckoo?"
Student: "No, but she must be from Bolivar.  My parents say that all the cuckoos live in Bolivar."

Teacher: "Why have you been acting up today?"
Student: "You know what caused my misbehavior?  It's this scar under my eye.  It has caused me to act this way."

Student: "Why is that written sloppy?" (Pointing to the Promethean Board in which I had typed something.)
Teacher: "You mean this?" (Pointing to a book title in italics.)
Student: "Yes, it's sloppy.  You wouldn't let me turn my work in like that."

Student: "Do I have a booger in my nose?" (As he comes to me with his head back)

Wednesday's Word of Wisdom

I am sorry I missed last week.  My birthday was last week, and life was a little crazy at home and at school.  I am actually writing this on the correct day this week! :)

Have you ever felt like you do a ton of work for nothing?  Have you felt like it would not matter if you were present at a function or not?  Have you felt like no one appreciates you?

I can't say that I have felt all these things lately, but I definitely have been in a slump.  I teach for my students, but it would nice to be recognized and feel appreciated by others.  I want to have friendships with my colleagues, but I feel like it's not possible because they are so competitive.  I have had to remind myself of this verse:

I am not doing everything for recognition.  I am doing it to make a difference.  It doesn't matter if I never get recognized for all the time and effort I put in.  What matters most is that I am playing an influential role in others' lives - coworkers, students, and others.  I want to do everything in LOVE!

I pray that you are able to find a peace at work.  I pray that you are able to see the difference you are making in others' lives.  I pray that you do things in love, because that is what God wants us to do.  I pray that you enjoy your holiday weekend coming up!

Meet the Teacher Monday: Love Is In the Air

I am linking up again with Trina at The Ordinary to Extraordinary Classroom for her "Meet the Teacher Monday" linky party.

Meet the Teacher Monday: Love Is in the Air

1. What is your relationship status? Are you satisfied with your current status?

I am happily married to my best friend, Kevin.  We have been married for three years.  We actually dated when I was in high school, but we went our separate ways for a few years before getting back together.  (When I say separate ways, we live in a small town and if we were in the same room we would act like we didn't know each other.) He actually proposed where we first met in high school.

2. Would you date or marry someone with kids? Or, did you marry someone with kids?

I didn't marry someone with kids, and I don't think I would have married someone with kids.  I guess it just depends on the situation.

3.  Do you prefer older or younger men/women?

When I was dating, I always went for older guys.  So, I guess I would say older.

4. If you could choose to date or marry one character on film, who would you date?

I am so not a film person so I am not sure who this would be.

5. How do you feel about PDA (Public Display of Affection)?

I do not like PDA for myself.  It makes me feel weird. However, I think it is cool to see an older couple show little signs of PDA after being together for so long.

6. What is a your biggest turn-on?

My biggest turn-on is a Christian attitude and treating others with kindness. I also love someone who is fun to be around.

7. What is your biggest turn off?

My biggest turn-off is someone who is obsessed with himself.

8. Would you date or marry someone shorter than you?

I don't think I would have been able to marry someone shorter than me.  My husband is actually a whole foot taller than me, and I'm 5'6.

9. Have you ever tried online dating? Your thoughts?

I have never tried online dating, because I have never needed to.  However I think when you get a certain age and from a small town, online dating might be the only watt o actually meet someone new.

10. What is your dream date night?

I am a simple girl (at least I think I am).  I would love to walk in tot he house with flowers on the table and a home cooked meal.  Having dinner with my guy followed by a nice movie by the fireplace.

February Currently

I am linking up with Farley over at "Oh' Boy 4th Grade" for her February Currently.

Listening - I am listening to "The Price is Right" but not really watching it.  I am also listening for the baby monitor.  My seven month old is down for her morning nap.

Loving - I am loving having today off so that I can catch up on some things.  We are out of school due to ice.

Thinking - I am thinking about all that I need to get done - laundry, revamping plans for a shorter week, meal plans, etc.

Wanting - I am wanting some time with Kevin, my husband.  He was gone from Thursday-Sunday.  When he got home yesterday, I had to leave for a meeting and then it was Super Bowl.  He had to go to work today. :(

Needing - I am needing to get up and fold clothes before little bit wakes up.  I also need to do my daily workout that I have been putting off since I didn't have to go to work.

2 Truths and a Fib
1) I love water! - Water is pretty much all I drink.  I absolutely love it, but it did come as a challenge at first.
2) I play the piano. - I absolutely love playing the piano.  I actually give private lessons after school to 8 kids.
3) I have plenty of money! - FIB!!! - I am teacher, and my husband is a farmer.  What teacher has plenty of money?  However, my family is able to live comfortably.  God has truly blessed us.

I hope you have a blessed day!
